In a Uranian workspace, being able to read the relationships around a point matters as much as selecting the point itself. Where several planets and points cluster together, display scale affects how comfortably you can examine the dial.
Hermes offers Classic and New Generation 90° views for examining the same geometry through different drawing layouts. This guide explains how to move from a point to its details while keeping display settings separate from calculated positions.
1. Open the Classic or New Generation 90° view
Open the 90° dial for the chart you want to examine. Keep the same chart context and point selection when comparing Classic and New Generation views. Choosing a layout is a reading preference; it does not, by itself, mean that different birth data is being used.
Start with a limited set of points. Add the points relevant to your work and observe where clusters appear. Rather than evaluating a group only by how close its symbols look, open the corresponding degree information.
2. Adjust glyph scale for readability
Glyph scale and display settings help distinguish symbols in dense areas. After changing zoom or glyph size, check the label of the same point again. Changing a symbol’s visual size does not change the point’s calculated longitude.
The enlarged crop on this page simply makes the dial easier to see. It is not an interactive calculation. When working in the application, read the drawing together with the numerical information on the point’s card.
3. Read the selected point’s degree card
Select the planet or point you are researching and open its degree card. Confirm its identity and position before exploring relationships. This sequence helps avoid reading a neighbouring point’s information within a dense group.
When comparing more than one view, check that you are still using the same person and technique context. The point described by the card should be the one you are following on the dial.
4. Explore the measuring arm and midpoint tree
The measuring arm helps you examine relationships around the selected point on the dial. Keep the starting point clear and compare the relationship you are investigating with its details. The direction of the arm on screen is not, by itself, an interpretive conclusion.
The midpoint tree presents midpoint relationships connected with the selected point in a separate layout. Follow the same point as you move from the dial to the tree. A listed relationship does not establish that a particular life event will occur.
5. Repeat the comparison with the same selection
Examine a point in Classic view, read its degree card and follow the relevant relationship with the measuring arm. Return to the same point in New Generation view. Adjust readability settings and compare the numerical information again.
This workflow helps you decide which layout suits your work. The Uranian tour on the Features page brings together the dial, glyph-scale and relationship steps. This web guide does not provide a calculator that replaces the desktop application.
Questions about this workflow
Does enlarging glyphs change calculated positions?
No. Glyph scale changes the readability of the symbols; calculated position information remains separate.
What should I compare between the two dial views?
Compare readability using the same chart and point selection, and check the context against the degree card and relationship information.
